Blind Service Association (BSA) helps over 1200 blind and visually impaired people annually to live more independent lives. Your gift to BSA will help us to carry on the programs and services that BSA clients rely on to help them achieve their goals. Blind Service Association is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt non-profit organization.

Not only are gifts of stock, bonds or mutual funds greatly appreciated at BSA, but it may help you avoid paying capital gain taxes as well as receiving an income tax deduction on the full market value of your gift.

bequests

Remembering Blind Service Association in your will or living trust is a way to honor BSA, its clients and its future. Bequests to Blind Service Association may include cash, securities, real estate and personal property such as valuable collections, art and jewelry.

There are various ways to set up your bequest.

specific bequest

This is a specific dollar amount, percentage of the estate or property to be bequeathed.

Suggested language for a specific bequest in your will may read "I give and bequest to Blind Service Association, 17 N. State Street #1050, Chicago, Illinois 60602, FEIN #36-2240484 the sum of $_________ to be used for general purposes (or state a specific program)."

residuary bequest

This is the residuary or left-over property remaining in the estate after all the specific gifts notified in the will were made and expenses have been paid off.

Suggested language for a residuary bequest in your will may read "I give the residuary and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, to Blind Service Association, 17 N. State Street #1050, Chicago, Illinois 60602, FEIN #36-2240484 for its general purposes (or state a specific program)."

contingency bequest

This allows you to leave the portion of your estate to Blind Service Association only if your named beneficiary does not survive you.

Suggested language for a contingency bequest may read "In the case where my (name of beneficiary) does not survive me, I bequeath my residual estate to Blind Service Association, 17 N. State Street, #1050, Chicago, Illinois 60602, FEIN #36-2240484 for its general purposes (or state a specific program)."
